Antique Smoker’s Bow Chair – Elm Seat – English Country House Chair c.1900
Description:
A good antique English smoker’s bow chair dating to the late 19th to early 20th century.
Constructed in the traditional manner with a solid elm seat showing beautiful natural grain, supported by turned spindle back and arm supports in beech/ash. The chair features a classic horseshoe-shaped arm rail with a shaped central crest, giving it a slightly more decorative look than the standard examples.
The proportions are generous and comfortable, with a seat height very close to modern standards, making it a practical everyday chair as well as a characterful period piece.
Condition is good for its age, with honest wear to the surface including marks and light scratches consistent with use. Structurally sound and solid.
A classic piece of English country furniture, ideal as a desk chair, occasional chair or farmhouse interior feature.
